What the Amazon Shopper Panel is
The Amazon Shopper Panel was created because Amazon is curious to know where you shop and what you’re buying when you aren’t purchasing from them. Your shopping behaviors provide valuable information that helps brands offer better products and make ads more relevant on Amazon. They are willing to pay you for that information, too! The basic premise of this program is simple – scan 10 receipts with your purchases from other retailers each month and get a $10 Amazon credit.
How to Join the Amazon Shopper Panel
First off, the Amazon Shopper Panel is an invitation-only program. Yeah, I hit you with the bad first. But my experience wasn’t bad – I just REALLY wanted to be a part of it! Who wouldn’t!? So you have to practice patience as you wait!
You MUST have an Amazon account to join and if you do, then you could be sent an invitation to join the program. Another way you can get into this panel is to apply. The way to go about that is to download the app and check if space is available. If there is no space available, you can join the waitlist and you will be notified if a spot opens up. The Amazon Shopper Panel app is a free coupon app you can download; simply head over to Google Play or the Apple App Store to get it!
IMPORTANT NOTE – When you join the Amazon Shopper Panel, you must sign into the app using the same email address associated with your Amazon.com account. This is the case whether you are invited or if you apply.
Once you’re a member of the panel – after you do a little dance around the house – you can immediately start participating and earning!
How to Earn with the Amazon Shopper Panel
Every month you’ll need to submit 10 receipts for purchases you’ve made and that will earn you $10. You can submit receipts by taking photos of them using the Amazon Shopper Panel app or by forwarding email receipts to [email protected]. The kinds of eligible receipts they accept are from grocery stores, department stores, cinemas, theme parks, and restaurants. You can scan a receipt from a purchase you’ve made in the past 30 days. Any receipt older than 30 days is ineligible to earn points.
TIP – Make sure you achieve 10 receipts! Anything less than 10 will not earn you anything and this is the best way to make the most of your membership! You can upload more if you would like.
You can also earn more by taking any available survey -- anywhere from 25¢ to $1 per survey. They are relatively quick and short surveys, usually about 3-4 multiple choice questions in length. They are usually inquiring about various brands, products, or ads. They are optional, so if that isn’t your thing, that’s okay! If you want to participate, I would highly recommend turning your notifications on, so that you can be alerted when one is available to you.
A relatively new way to earn is by opting into ad sharing. This will earn you an extra $2 per month. This too is optional. If you want to participate, you’re letting Amazon track the ads that you view on your mobile device.
TIP – If you disable ad verification for more than a cumulative 48 hours within a month, you will no longer qualify for that month's reward.
Let’s Talk About the Amazon Shopper Panel Rewards
Within the first 48 hours of the month, the rewards you earned will be added to your Amazon account. It applies just like an Amazon gift card would. (To see it in your account, simply go to “Your Account” and head to the “Payments” section where you’ll select “Manage gift card balance”. It will show under “Your balance activity”.) And just like that, you’re ready to shop!
They have an alternative option as well. You can choose to donate your earnings. The organizations you have to choose from are Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, ASPCA, charity: water, Doctors Without Borders, Feeding America, Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Nature Conservancy, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and the United Negro College Fund.
Consider This: If you’re doing the math, participating monthly by submitting 10 receipts will earn you $120 per year. Opting into the ad sharing will get you an additional $24 a year. That will earn you $144 per year (not counting any surveys) which is more than enough to cover the cost of the $139 per year Amazon Prime membership. Just a thought! Otherwise, you can just use your earning to shop!

Is the Amazon Shopper Panel legit?Yes! Amazon aims to gather information about consumer behavior and how to better advertise products and this is a beneficial way for that – for you and them. Who gets invited to the Amazon Shopper Panel?
Only current Amazon members are invited. You can also download the app and join the waitlist in the hopes of being able to secure a spot on the panel.
How long is the waitlist on the Amazon Shopper Panel?
Honestly, it’s anyone’s guess. Rumor is that it’s pretty quick, but there is no definite timeframe that you will have to wait. I can tell you my personal experience was that I waited for about 3 weeks when I was finally notified.
Can anyone join the Amazon Shopper Panel?
The only real requirement is that you MUST have an Amazon account. Beyond that, you’re waiting for an invitation or an opening if you apply.
Is it worth the time and effort?
I spend a few minutes each month scanning 10 receipts and earning $10. That’s $1 per receipt. To each their own, but I think it is! It’s the easiest panel I’ve been a member of! You can always try it and if it turns out that it’s not for you, you can always "Delete your data and opt out” within the app.
